چکیده

Background Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptom (DRESS) is a severe drug-induced cutaneous reaction with visceral involvement and blood abnormalities associated with reactivations of herpes-virus family i.e., EBV, HHV-6, HHV-7 and CMV. Recently, we demonstrated that the immune response in DRESS, previously thought to be directed only against drug components, is also mediated by herpes-virus specific cytotoxic CD8+ T lymphocytes which home to the skin and visceral organs.

Drugs responsible of DRESS syndrome regulate IL-10 and TNF-α secretion

Background Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) is a severe drug-induced reaction that involves both the skin and the viscera. Several herpesvirus family members like EBV or HHV-6 can be detected coincidently with various clinical symptoms in DRESS. In addition, we have previously identified activated EBV specific cytotoxic CD8+ T cells as major actors in the pathophysi...

Proliferation rates and gene expression profiles in human lymphoblastoid cell lines from patients with depression characterized in response to antidepressant drug therapy

The current therapy success of depressive disorders remains in need of improvement due to low response rates and a delay in symptomatic improvement. Reliable functional biomarkers would be necessary to predict the individual treatment outcome. On the basis of the neurotrophic hypothesis of antidepressant's action, effects of antidepressant drugs on proliferation may serve as tentative individua...

Lymphoblastoid cell lines: a continuous in vitro source of cells to study carcinogen sensitivity and DNA repair

Obtaining a continuous source of normal cells or DNA from a single individual has always been a rate limiting step in biomedical research. Availability of Lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs) as a surrogate for isolated or cryopreserved peripheral blood lymphocytes has substantially accelerated the process of biological investigations. LCLs can be established by in vitro infection of resting B cell...

Supportive Effects of Human Embryonic Fibroblast Cell Lines on Growth and Proliferation of EBV-Transformed Lymphoblastoid Cells

Human diploid fibroblast cells produce a spectrum of necessary growth factors and extracellular matrix (ECM) components essential for growth and proliferation of a variety of other cell types. In this study, the effect of five human embryonic fibroblast cell lines, isolated from liver, lung, skin and foreskin tissues, was investigated. A coculture system analyse was employed to cloning efficien...

Establishment & characterization of lymphoblastoid cell lines from patients with multiple primary neoplasms in the upper aero-digestive tract & healthy individuals

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES A major drawback for genetic studies as well as long-term genotype-phenotype correlation studies in cancer is lack of representative human cell lines providing a continuous source of basic biomolecules and a system to carry out various experimental investigations. This can be overcome to some extent by establishing lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs) by infecting peripheral...
